Thank you for your interest in applying for a School Improvement Grant in Denver Public Schools.
The primary purpose of these grants is to support innovative initiatives aimed at increasing student
achievement throughout the district. DPS seeks to fund proposals that are:
-Aligned with the School Improvement Grants standards approved by the Board of
education (see Standards link at left);
-Research-based;
-Proven effective with demographically similar populations; and Developed in accord with the Denver
Plan and its standards for improving student achievement.
Grant funds are expressly targeted for start up
efforts only and are not intended to support long term staffing or programmatic features.

School Improvement Grants (SIG)
Funded by mill levy revenue, School Improvement Grants are to be used to create a
portfolio of high performing schools in Denver. Funds will be used to implement
a clear and coherent vision resulting in improved student learning and increased
enrollment. Grants will be awarded to those applicants whose proposals meet or exceed
the SIG standards (Appendix 1), are aligned with Colorado's Model Content Standards,
and exceed the expectations of the Denver Plan.
