Call for New Schools

The Denver New Schools Initiative of the Denver Public Schools (DPS) is aimed at enhancing the educational opportunities available to Denver students, families, and educators. New schools will be established through this Request for Proposal (RFP) process to provide Denver’s educational stakeholders with new academic choices within their communities through the creation of high-performing and research-based Innovation and Charter Schools (described in detail throughout this document). All new schools approved through this process will be classified as public schools within the DPS system. DPS looks forward to welcoming new high quality educational options for its stakeholders throughout the city of Denver.

The district encourages interested and highly qualified applicants to review this document and consider the options available for creating and opening new high-performing schools within DPS. As a critical piece of the district’s reform initiative authorized by the Board of Education in the fall of 2007, this effort has the potential to dramatically impact the scope and quality of schools in Denver. If, after reviewing this document and its attachments, interested applicants have additional questions, they are encouraged to contact the New Schools Office via email RFP-2009@dpsk12.org or phone (720-423-1234).
